So what is SwitchFunds?

Simply put…members using SwitchPlanet save money by switching the things they no longer need or use to get the things they want for free. Instead of transaction fees or membership fees, we want to give our members the option to donate any amount they choose every time they request something for free from another member on the SwitchPlanet network.

Members can choose to donate every time they make a switch, every other switch, once a month, once a year or just whenever they feel compelled. If they don’t have the extra money to donate that’s not a problem. We plan on creating other ways people can help out like donating their time to help a needy cause or maybe donating a book for a “Books for Kids” drive.

Where does the money go?

The plan is to use the funds donated throughout the year to help needy families during the Holiday Season. Half the funds will be used to buy Thanksgiving dinners for families and half the funds will be used to purchase toys for kids around Christmas time.

Organizations such as Toys for Tots and local food and shelter organizations will receive the contributions and distribute them to those who need it most.

What was the inspiration for SwitchFunds?

People like Bill and Melinda Gates (www.GatesFoundation.org), Warren Buffett, Seth Godin (www.Squidoo.com), Michael Dell and the many SwitchPlanet members who have started donation drives on the forum and those who contributed to help.
